The contemporary ballet troupe has taken the country by storm with their adventurous sampling of choreographers and range of dance styles. As the largest dance presenters in the country, the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet has proven themselves the highest level of achievements with an impressively extensive repertoire, acquiring and commissioning works from the world's top choreographers. The New York Times hails them as "A breath of fresh air!"
The dancers polish layers of romance in Trace (2010), by Helen Pickett, featuring complicated duets that reveal the physical and emotional strengths in the different periods of one's love life. Zen then takes over with Nicolo Fonte's In Hidden Seconds (1999) showcasing the dancers' extreme athleticism and yoga-inspired moves. The finishing touch is a crowd energizer with an evocative blend of punctuated and abstract movements from the Finnish choreographer Jorma Elo's, Red Sweet (2008).
